Ep 114 – Amy Pelkey – Support for Healthcare Providers After Pregnancy or Infant Loss

Last updated Nov 15, 2022 | 0 comments

Amy shares her story of her baby’s stillbirth at 22 weeks. She started a support organization, Pause to Remember, for healthcare workers.

In episode #114, Amy shares her personal story of loss. Her daughter was stillborn a day shy of 22 weeks in September 2016, related to various health issues that were discovered in utero. As a certified registered nurse anesthetist, Amy recognized that there were no loss resources specifically to support healthcare providers.

Through her organization, Pause to Remember, Amy helps healthcare providers build courage, strength, and resilience after pregnancy or infant loss with mindfulness practices such as meditation and yoga. We talk about how mindfulness practices support people experiencing these losses, as well as some misconceptions that are out there about yoga and meditation.

Topics Discussed: stillbirth, congenital heart defect, ascites, yoga, mindfulness, grief, triggers for healthcare providers who have experienced pregnancy or infant loss
