Last updated Jun 13, 2022 | 0 comments

In this episode, certified childbirth educator Dawn Byington shares her story including pregnancy loss and Trisomy 18.

In episode #092, Dawn shares her personal story of loss. She is a certified childbirth educator and birth doula, and she has started to work with women and those who support them as they navigate and cope with pregnancy and infant loss.

Dawn and her husband tried for their third child for years. They got pregnant in 2013, but suffered a miscarriage at 8 weeks. Four years later, they were pregnant again. After 12 weeks, they were so excited to finally welcome their long-awaited baby. At 13 weeks, however, they received a terminal diagnosis of Trisomy 18. Dawn carried their son for the next 20 weeks, not knowing when he would pass away. She started a blog to chronicle her family’s journey, and she is also working on a book to share their story.

Topics Discussed: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), infertility, Trisomy 18, stillbirth, grief, coping with loss
